Folks always ask me, “What kind of people live here”? Well, normal people—I live here (I consider myself “normal”) But, to answer the question, here is a sampling of our residents, if I can remember most of their occupations, past and present. Not everyone is retired. The age is 55 and over, with the second occupant 50 or more, so, many of us still are actively employed, myself included. Before I was a Realtor I was in the automobile business for over 25 years, first in sales, and then in Finance and Insurance. It was fun in the beginning, but I got a little too old to enjoy the 70 plus hours per week. So, I became an aesthetician for a while, worked in a spa doing facials and make-up for weddings. Loved it, but I really did not like waxing, which is a big part of the services, so I quit and got my Real Estate license. I will still do make-up if asked to do so, especially for weddings. Here in Ventura Marina Senior Community we have a cross-section of occupations:
Sales–Homes, Insurance, Investments and retail. CPA’s, Attorneys, Government employees, Nurses, Doctors, teachers, city employees, retired CIA agents, retired IRS agents, actors, Law enforcement and firefighters, ministers, artists, landscape artists, TV personalities, musicians, opera singers, professors, interior decorators, event planners, chefs, wine distributors, contractors, handymen, professional dancers, appraisers, writers, authors, bloggers, Ebay advertisers, gardeners, franchise owners, yacht salesmen, store owners, scientists, pro-golfers, administrative assistants, security guards, judges, hairstylists, travel and trip organizers, dog groomers, house painters, singers and entertainers of all types.
