However, if you are a senior and don’t intend to spend all of your time at the beach, here are some items of interest:
1. The Ventura Avenue Adult Center, located at 550 N. Ventura Ave at Center Street. It is open Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 3 PM, closed holidays. Lunch is served 11:30 to 12:30, no RSVP required, cost is $3 for folks over 60, and $6.75 for those under 60. Salad, hot entree, fresh fruits and vegetables are served. This is especially nice if you want to meet new people and make new friends.
2. Beach Cities Neighbors and Newcomers — a group of women who have been meeting for eleven years, and welcome newcomers to the area. They have lots of fun, lots of lunches and happy members ready to show you some fun and get acquainted. More information available if you email me at saffish@sbcglobal.net.
3. Rubicon Theatre on Main Street – Coming January 25 thru Feb 12 – “Gulf View Drive” The poignant third and final play in the trilogy by Arlene Hutton–“Last Train to Nibroc” and “See Rock City” were the first and second plays. Briefly, this is the story of two young people who met and fell in love during World War II. Very moving and intimate, filled with humor and nostaglia. This play won “Critics Choice” Los Angeles Times.
4. Morning Yoga with Lisa – Usually every Monday, 6:30 to 7:30, Marina Park in the grassy area. This will wake you up, get rid of the cobwebs, and start your day off in a very healthy way. Bring your own towel and mat.
5. If you want activities on the water, there is always Island Packers on Spinnaker, offering boat rentals, excursions, sport fishing, dinner cruises, and lots more. Island Packers is located towards the end of the Marina, close to Ventura Yacht Club and the Marine Museum.
